BASICHOST.net is owned and run on a day-to-day basis by Nick Laws with the help of a number of other core staff members. Nick has had 6+ years experience in the web hosting industry and has worked for several hosting companies before setting up the ManageMyServices group and moving into the low-cost sector. Since Nick has a lot of knowledge in all areas of web hosting and also deals with several datacenters on a day-to-day basis he knows exactly how to manage the costs associated with a hosting company and what can be cut where and where costs should never be cut (security, backups and contingency planning). Therefore he has been able to secure deals with datacenters that are very much below average industry prices and yet still have an excellent quality.

Nick first started creating websites over six years ago and when it came to choosing hosting companies for the first time made a series of unwise choices, resulting in money-loss, a dead website and a lot of hassle. Nick therefore understands fully what customer service, reliability and complete, open and honest communication is all about. At BASICHOST.net we believe low-cost doesn't have to mean sub-standard service and we go out of our way to please customers and provide the best customer service possible. If there is absolutely nothing we can do for a customer to help them we are happy to provide a full refund at any time in order to ensure they are not left with a host not right for them and out of pocket.

BASICHOST.net manages its costs in many ways and we have done everything in our power to ensure our costs are lower than many other hosting companies. Nick is familiar with a number of programming languages and has setup a range of automated systems for the company in order that costs are cut since tasks are handled faster and workforce productivity improved. We also negotiate with a number of datacenters, playing them off against one another until we have the perfect deal and then we select the software for the servers which will give us the lowest cost and the maximum reliability, which we have chosen CentOS and DirectAdmin control panels. We also ensure we never spend too much on general overheads for the company and ensure we keep lean and mean in everything we do.

Our technology is based off the Savvis network in Dallas. Texas. This is one of the finest datacenters in the US and Savvis is well-known for their reliable, rock-solid network. In addition to this we also have a secondary datacenter, also in Texas on Hurricane Electric bandwidth. So should anything happen to our primary datacenter we have a secondary datacenter ready to supply us quickly. In addition to this we also have backups hosted in another off-site secure location in the event of a crisis (luckily hasn't been required yet). Our hardware is custom-built from quality parts bought at rock-bottom wholesale prices so we are able to keep costs low and server quality high. Server specifications range from Celerons to Pentiums and Xeons and have 512MB ram minimum. Each server is monitored regularly for any changes in loads and we never overfill servers beyond their capacity. We are extremely proud of our hardware and network setup at BASICHOST and feel it compares highly with other higher-cost hosting companies.

A large part of BASICHOST is our drive to create a community of webmaster enthusiasts who enjoy building their websites and pushing the boundaries in regards to what can be done on the average website. We provide great packages with many features included so there's always a new scripting language or script to add to websites hosted here. We've built a dedicated community at community.basichost.net which is designed to help our customers communicate with other customers as well as staff members and by solving simple problems in our community forums it means our support costs go down and we can continue to give our customers amazing offers. Our community will be key to our growth and development and signing up to the forums is the first thing we recommend customers do before or after getting a hosting package with us.
